Youth Protection Training "YPT"

Pack 70 takes the safety of our scouts very seriously. In order to do our best protect them, we require that all parents and leaders to complete the BSA's Youth Protection Training. This is available online and takes about an hour to finish. Once you have finished, please provide a copy of your completion certificate to the Committee Chair either by printing it or via email to familypack70@gmail.com.

To complete the training:
  1. Go to my.scouting.org and create a free account. If you already have an account, sign in.
  2. Click on the large "Youth Protection Begins With You" button.
  3. Complete all three modules and the certification test. A completion certificate will be emailed to you which you can forward to the Committee Chair.

** In-person Youth Protection Training sessions will be offered throughout the scouting year as needed. You can choose to participate in one of those rather than complete it online.

Leadership Training

While all adults, parents and leaders alike, are required to complete YPT, leaders are also required to complete training specific to their volunteer position.

To complete your position-specific training:

  1. Sign in to my.scouting.org.
  2. Click on My Dashboard in the upper left menu.
  3. Click on Requirements in the center of the screen to see what trainings are required for your position.
  4. You can also click on Training Center and from there Cub Scouting to be taken to the Scouting U page where you can choose Home to see a list of required training by position or Course Catalog and then Cub Scouting to choose which training options to take.
  5. Once you have completed all of your required training, the Pack Trainer will present you with a Trained patch to put on your uniform shirt sleeve to signify to scouts and other leaders that you are fully trained in your current volunteer position.
