"A Scout is Reverent"

“A Scout is Reverent”

Duty to God.  Duty to God is incorporated into every Cub Scout rank achievement.  Examples of these requirements are:  participate in a worship service, visit a religious monument or site where people might show reverence, and read a story about people or groups of people who came to America to enjoy religious freedom, among many others.

All Faith Traditions are Welcome in Pack 606

There are opportunities for each boy to earn his specific faith’s Religious Emblem and is highly encouraged.  Each faith tradition has its own set of emblem requirements. The Religious Emblem award is a special recognition that will carry forward for the rest of his scouting adventure, even into Boy Scouts and adulthood.

Pack 606 believes the best teacher of faith starts at home with the family and with the Scout's religious leader.  The pack has a Religious Emblem Coordinator to help you start your religious program.

More information on BSA's Religious Emblem Programs can be found at:http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/Awards/ReligiousAwards.aspx

Pack Leader's Declaration of Religious Principle

Abstract from the BSA Adult Leadership Application:  The Boy Scouts of America maintains that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing an obligation to God and, therefore, recognizes the religious element in the training of the member, but it is absolutely nonsectarian in its attitude toward that religious training.  Its policy is that the home and organization or group with which the member is connected shall give definite attention to religious life.  Only persons willing to subscribe to these precepts from the Declaration of Religious Principle and to the Bylaws of the BSA shall be entitled to certificates of leadership.

Scouters Prayer

Dear Lord, from your judgment seat on high,
Look down on a Scoutmaster such as I.
Search me through and find me whole,
Then help me, Lord, to reach my goal.
Help me, Lord, to work for Thee,
Guard my homeland—keep it free.
Help me to work with others and be kind,
Helpful with my hands and mind.
Keep me, Lord, both well and strong,
To help growing boys along.
Control my thoughts, keep them right,
Sound, clean weapons for life's fight.
Protect my morals, keep them high,
Grant this to a Scouter such as I.

Scout Sunday Across America

The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. However, Cub Scout Pack 606's charter organization is The American Legion, not a church.  Therefore, Cub Scout Pack 606 encourages all Scouts and their families to wear their Class A uniforms to their particular religious institution.  Those that do not have a home institution can contact the Pack's Religious Emblem Award coordinator for assistance.
