Troop 230 has a history of high adventure going back to 1975.  We conduct a camp out or outdoor event every month of the year and focuses on preparing for an extended high adventure trip each summer.  Additionally, we participate in the week long summer camp experience provided by the local council/district and participate in other BSA high adventure venues such as Philmont, Sea Base, and BSA jamborees.  Summer activities in Alaska include high adventure activities such as hiking the Chilkoot Trail, Kayaking in Resurrection Bay, canoeing the Yukon River or any number of canoeing trips in the Kenai Peninsula, or hiking remote locations such as Katmai and Aniakchak.  When you find snow in the winter you will find us skiing at Alyeska, hiking in snowshoes at Hatcher’s Pass, or building Quinzhees at Otter Lake to sleep in.

Through the eight methods of scouting we bring a challenging and fun experience to scouts.  Come visit or contact me for more details.
