Pack 36 Council and Sponsor

Pack 36 is a positive influence for kids in the Darien, IL area and we could not exist without the Charter from our BSA Council and our Sponsor.

Pack 36 Council: Pathway to Adventure

Pack 36 Sponsor: Lions Club of Darien, IL

Most of our scouts come from Mark DeLay and Lace Schools but we are open to girls and boys from other schools.

Cub Scouts Belong to a Pack and a Den

Every Cub Scout is a member of a Cub Scout Pack. The Pack is divided into smaller groups called Dens. All of the Cub Scouts in a Den are about the same age or grade level.

Pack 36 pack is made up of six Dens:

  • Lion (Kindergarten)
  • Tiger Cub (First grade)
  • Wolf Scout (Second grade)
  • Bear Scout (Third grade)
  • Webelos I (Fourth grade)
  • Webelos II (Fifth grade)

Pack 36 Cub Scouts typically gather about 4 times a month during the school year and once a month during the summer.  Meetings are usually about an hour long. Activities can go longer.

Pack Meetings and Activities: The entire pack typically meets twice a month. Once for a big meeting called a Pack Meeting at the Mark Delay gym. Pack Meetings include recognition for Cub Scouts, awards, highlights of den activities, skits, demonstrations, exhibits, fun and games. The Pack also attempts to meet a 2nd time within a month for a Pack Activity. Pack Activities include: hiking, camping, various service projects, food drives, museum and zoo visits and much more.

Den Meetings and Activities: Dens typically meet twice a month to complete achievements for rank and have fun. The Den Meeting is typically in a classroom setting at Mark DeLay. The Den will also try to meet a 2nd time within the month for a Den Activity. The Den Activities can include: "Go-See-It" excursions to places such as fire departments, museums, or radio stations as well as hiking, bowling or arts and crafts.

While you're having fun, you'll also be earning badges, patches, pins and belt loops. You'll work on projects with your parents or members of your Den, and all of you will feel good about the things you accomplish.

You'll also have a chance to take home a trophy at our annual Pinewood Derby. Or, win any number of prizes for selling popcorn during our annual fundraiser.

When you have earned an award, the Cub Master will present it to you in front of the whole pack. Your hard work will be recognized.

The Uniform

Unless otherwise noted, Scouts should wear their Cub Scout uniform to all Scouting activities. That includes Den meetings, Pack meetings and every activity in which they take part with other Cub Scouts.

Parents are responsible for purchasing the Scout uniform which includes:
  • Shirt
  • Hat
  • Neckerchief and neckerchief slide
  • Belt
  • Brag Vest

Uniforms can be purchased at the LaGrange Scout Shop.

For more info on the uniform check the BSA Cub Scout Uniform Guide.

For proper placement of patches check the BSA Cub Scout Insignia Guide.

Pack Leadership

Pack 36 is lead entirely by volunteers. Our volunteer leaders share their time and skills to provide programs and activities for our Cub Scouts.

We ask each family to help in some way.
There are many ways in which you can get involved to help the Pack. Whether as a Den Leader/Assistant Den Leader, Assistant Cub Master, Activities Coordinator, Pack Treasurer or serving in some other behind-the-scenes way on the Pack Committee, your volunteer help is needed and greatly appreciated.
